SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)

HR professionals who implement policies and strategies, serve as point of contact for staff and stakeholders, deliver HR services, and perform operational HR functions, should take the SHRM-CP exam.

SHRM-CP Eligibility Requirements:
With HR-Related Degree:
  • 3 Years in HR Role with Less than a Bachelor's Degree*
  • 1 Years in HR Role with Bachelor's Degree
  • Currently in HR Role with Graduate Degree
With Non-HR Degree:
  • 4 Years in HR Role with Less than a Bachelor's Degree*
  • 2 Years in HR Role with Bachelor's Degree
  • 1 Year in HR Role with Graduate Degree

*Less than a bachelor’s degree includes: working toward a bachelor's degree; associate's degree; some college; qualifying HR certificate program; high school diploma or GED.

    SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)

    HR professionals who develop strategies, lead the HR function, foster influence in the community, analyze performance metrics, and align HR strategies to organizational goals, should take the SHRM-SCP exam.

    SHRM-SCP Eligibility Requirements:
    With HR-Related Degree:
    • 6 Years in HR Role with Less than a Bachelor's Degree*
    • 4 Years in HR Role with Bachelor's Degree
    • 3 Years in HR Role with Graduate Degree
    With Non-HR Degree:
    • 7 Years in HR Role with Less than a Bachelor's Degree*
    • 5 Years in HR Role with Bachelor's Degree
    • 4 Years in HR Role with Graduate Degree

    SHRM Eligibility

    Applicants must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time they submit their application, in order to be eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam.
