A message from our president
2021 NOARK President
I, like many of you, always look at the beginning of a new year as a year of new beginnings. NOARK will be changing things up a bit. We will start with our new venue. All of our meetings (with the exception of conferences) will be at The Barn at Cave Springs. This beautiful destination is centrally located and lends itself to expansion. That’s where you come in! I look forward to seeing you at the meetings, and I hope that you will invite others each month.
We will be providing a new food showcase each month. We are working with area chefs to bring a variety of interesting options each month. January’s menu will be Italian and will be provided by the team at Fiamma Ristorante, Bentonville. Fiamma incorporates local, sustainable ingredients for their menu along with handmade bread and pasta, and I’ll let you discover the desserts on your own.
As the 2020 journey continues, we will be working with quality content from expert speakers. The main reason was given by our membership (besides content) for attending our meetings is networking. Relationships (networks) are the key to success in our careers. Therefore, we are thrilled that our friend Martha Londagin will be speaking in January on Enthusiastic, Effective, and Efficient Networking. Many of you know Martha, and you know she excels at this!
We will all be attending the ARSHRM State Conference in Rogers in April this year! Please plan to attend and (again) bring others from your organization to help us welcome our HR friends from across the state.
We are introducing a new conference in June this year. We will be partnering with the University of Arkansas Vice Chancellor's Office for Diversity and Inclusion and the IDEALS Institute to provide HR professionals and business leaders best practice information and tools to successfully recruit, hire, and retain military-affiliated individuals. This conference builds on the work NOARK has been doing for the last year-and-one-half with grants provided by the SHRM Foundation to assist military-affiliated individuals and employers with job placement and retention. We hope that you will consider joining us for this full-day event which will wrap around our regular June monthly meeting. As NWA enjoys full employment, recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans and other military-affiliated individuals is good for business, good for our region, and good for our country. Watch for conference updates!
In November, we will once again bring you the Supervisor’s Conference. We will provide more about this conference a little later in the year. Please budget to bring those supervisors working on the frontlines with your employees.
We will provide extra classes for certification credits. There will be SHRM Foundation donation opportunities and networking events as always, and we invite you to participate in every occasion. We will keep you posted each month, but always feel free to visit noark.org for detailed information.
