A message from our president

2019 NOARK President
“Advancing the Profession and Serving the Professional…” This is the overall mission of the Northwest Arkansas Human Resource Association. It is also a statement that I have reflected on many times as I have prepared for my upcoming presidency in 2019. And as our extremely talented group of board members and I have been busy preparing and planning for this upcoming year, we are always reminded of our overall purpose for volunteering when we think of these words. It is our goal to ensure that our members have the opportunity for a high level of professional development either by gaining continuous education credits, obtaining knowledge of upcoming changes or trends in the industry, or being able to network with other HR colleagues for guidance on specific situations and scenarios.
I have been a member of NOARK since 2006 and I am in my 7th year on the board. In the beginning, my overall idea of what I would get out of my membership was to network with other colleagues for professional development. However, it wasn’t until I was asked to volunteer on a committee did my perspective for what NOARK really has to offer in a membership change and my passion for serving the profession emerged. Participating behind the scenes of our membership meetings or other events offers so much more to understanding how we can each make a difference in the human resource profession as well as to our HR community as a whole. I encourage you to volunteer and get involved on a committee. Our committee chairs would welcome the chance to work with you.
We have a lot of wonderful things in the works this year and several lofty goals that we hope will continue to advance and elevate the professional, YOU. We have engaged speakers whose programs are on the center stage of the national SHRM speaking circuit, workshops to offer more business and strategic credits, and participation in conferences that will offer appealing topics and overall relevant and timely messages. But we want to do more! And we want to hear from our members about the future of our organization. Please reach out to any member of the board with ideas or thoughts surrounding how we can help to advance the profession and serve the professional.
I am so excited about 2019 and I am honored to serve our members in the human resource community.
