A message from our president
Amy Fisher, MBA, SPHR
2018 NOARK President
I am honored to serve as the president of NOARK for 2018 and am excited to work with some impressive board members who have already been hard at work preparing for this year. I have been a member of NOARK for ten years and have been active in our local chapter for several of those years. I have learned so much through the years by attending membership meetings with content that I can immediately apply to my job. I have learned by developing relationships with my HR colleagues at other organizations in the area, who reach out to each other for input in handling different situations in our individual organizations. I have learned by being involved and participating. I would invite you to consider being more than just an attender of meetings. Find a way to get involved and enrich your experience with NOARK.
We are planning for an exciting year. Our programs chair has already been working to get some great speakers lined up for our meetings. We are hoping to have more business credits available for those of you pursuing recertification with HRCI, both in the membership meetings and in additional opportunities outside of those times. We have heard from many of you that these business credits are important to you for your professional development.
And, being a member of the national organization, Society for Human Resource Management, SHRM, provides you with a wealth of resources right at your fingertips. Several times a week, I access the SHRM website for information on a host of topics. I am able to keep up with the ever-changing compliance landscape because of the daily newsletters provided by SHRM. Being a member of the SHRM Advocacy Team affords you the opportunity to be involved in legislative efforts affecting us, our organizations, and our employees. If you would like more information about these opportunities, please ask any one of our board members.
I am looking forward to 2018, and I am always anxious to hear from you, especially if you have suggestions for ways to make our chapter even better. Please contact me anytime.
