Today, in the U.S. Senate, supporters of the Paycheck Fairness Act failed to get enough votes to proceed to a floor debate on the Act (S.3772) by a tally of 58-41. The motion to invoke cloture required at least 60 votes in favor in order to move forward to consideration of the bill on the Senate floor. This vote means that the Act, which the White House has been championing in recent months, is dead for now.
