Job Summary

The Payroll Assistant will assist in processing payroll for multi-state businesses, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and accounting assignments.

Detailed Job Description

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Processes payroll timely and accurate including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

Updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

Posts journal entries to general ledger.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, and payroll taxes.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Proficient with QuickBooks.

Knowledge with payroll software, namely Paylocity.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.

At least three to five years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
