NEXT WEEK AT THE CAPITOL
The House is adjourned until 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3.
The Senate is adjourned until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4.
SB 111 and HB 1150 – Private Option
The House ended the week yesterday without taking a vote on SB 111 or HB 1150 which contain the Department of Human Services appropriation for medical care that includes the so-called Private Option.
Follow this link to an Arkansas News Bureau report on yesterday’s activity related to the Private Option issue:
SB 60 Workers’ Compensation Commission Appropriation
The House did not consider this Workers' Compensation Commission operations appropriation yesterday and it is on Monday’s House Calendar.
SB 139 Lieutenant Governor Vacancy
The House passed Senate Bill 139 by Sen. Eddie Joe Williams, R-Cabot, yesterday by a vote of 76 to 10. This bill would allow the governor not to call a special election to fill a vacancy in the lieutenant governor’s office when the vacancy occurs within 10 months of a general election in which the office would be filled, if the governor determines that holding a special election is impractical because of the timing of the vacancy.
The candidate filing period continues until noon on Monday, March 3. So far, 20 state legislative races will have a Primary Election and 23 will have a contested General Election.
