RECERTIFICATION – How Do I Keep Up With It?
Several people have asked, “Now that I have my PHR/SPHR/GPHR, how do I get recertification credits and how do I keep up with them?” First, let’s go to HRCI; enter your 12-digit ID number (the same one you had to have to take your certification test); look under Quick Links on the right side of the home page and find My Recert File. Your own personal recertification file comes up with your Certification Status, the Credit Hours Required and Eligible Credit Hours Reported to Date.
You can Add/Review under the appropriate category, and your Recert File will automatically keep up with how many hours you have acquired towards your required total. There are 6 different categories available to earn recertification credits. HRCI explains how to earn different credits, how to calculate credit hours, and in some instances the maximum allowed for certain activities such as videoconferences, audiotapes and webcasts.
Just remember to log-in and enter your credit hours as you earn them. By the time you need to recertify, your personal Recert File has all of the information accounted for and totaled. How easy is that?!
